Es originario este apellido del antiguo lugar de Silieza (cuyo nombre tomó) sito en el Valle de Mena, del partido judicial de Villarcayo y provincia de Burgos. En dicho lugar nació don Juan Bautista de S. Velasco y Velasco Salazar Partearroyo. Caballero de la Orden de Alcántara, en la que ingresó en el año 1641, y progenitor de la rama de este linaje en la hoy República de Guatemala, cuya genealogía es como sigue: dicho Juan Bautista de S. Velasco, Caballero de Alcántara, pasó a América estableciéndose en la ciudad de Santiago de los Caballeros de Guatemala, en donde fué Alguacil Mayor. Contrajo matrimonio con doña Francisca de Salazar y Sosa (hija del Capitán Cristóbal de Salazar y doña Leonor de Sosa y Peraza, él de Sevilla y ella de la Isla de la Gomera, Canarias). Procrearon los siguientes hijos: Inés Francisca deS. Velasco y Salazar, nacida el 3 de Mayo de 1643 en la ciudad de Guatemala, que casó con el Coronel Juan de Roa y Rias, natural de La Coruña y vecino de la ciudad de Santiago de los Caballeros de Guatemala; Leonor María de S. Velasco y Salazar, bautizada en la parroquia del Sagrario de Guatemala el 8 de Septiembre de 1644; Isabel María de S. Velasco y Salazar, bautizada en la misma parroquia el 6 de Octubre de 1645; Tomás de S. Velasco y Salazar, que sigue la línea; Cristóbal de S. Velasco y Salazar, nacido el 31 de Mayo de 1649; y Rodrigo Sebastián de S. Velasco y Salazar, que vino al mundo el 19 de Enero de 1651. ...
