Nel 1400 quest'antica e nobile famiglia risiedeva in Castellaneta e in Taranto. Nel 1444 Antonio era nobile e governatore regio. Evangelista, nobile di Castellaneta, nel 1487 comperò da Francesco Antoglietta il feudo Carosino di cui divenne barone, e possedeva pure il fondo di S. Crespiero, Giovanni-Antonio, di lui figlio, nel 1496 era capitano dei Tarantini e devoto agli Aragonesi, e per lui si perpetuò un ramo di questa famiglia sino ad un altro Giovanni-Antonio il quale dalla nobile Ersilia Prato di Lecce sua consorte ebbe una sola figlia, Eleonora, che nel 1607 sposò Diego D'Ayala, ed in lei si spense questa diramazione. Un altro ramo collaterale, cui era stato ceduto il feudo di S. Crespiero, si spense in un terzo Giovanni-Antonio verso la metà del XVII secolo. Egli era stato creato marchese e cavaliere di Alcantara, poi maestro di campo, consigliere collaterale e vicario generale delle fortezze toscane per S.M. ...
