Originaires de Provence où ils seraient, dit-on, venus d'Allemagne vers 1210. Origine et filiation contestée par Lainé dans le Dictionaire Véridique, qui leur donne pour auteur: Jean, lequel aurait pris indûment la qualité de noble en 1667. Maintenus dans leur noblesse sur preuves remontant à 1674, par ordonnance royale de 1708. Un gouverneur de Barcelonette, capitaine d'une compagnie de gendarmes et lieutenant-général en Provence; un évêque de Béthléem sacré le 26 mars 1651. Etablis au Puy au XVII siècle. Honoré de Saint-Sauveur acquit en 1697, au prix de 18100 livres, l'office de prévôt de la maréchaussée du diocèse du Puy et en conserva les fonctions pendant douze ans. Son fils, Jean-Baptiste de Sisgaud écuyer, seigneur de Saint-Sauveur et de Beaurepaire, épousa le 3 septembre 1720, Catherine de Mombrac (fille de Mathieu-Ignace seigneur du Bouchet, avocat, doyen des conseillers au présidial et de Louise de Vaux de Serres). Jean Baptiste Alexis de Sisgaud, dit le chevalier de Saint-Sauveur employé dans les consulats à Naples, Palerme et Smyrne (1785-1793), fut nommé juge au tribunal civil du Puy le 20 décembre 1805. Un vicaire-général de l'évêque du Puy, chanoine de Notre-Dame (1685); un envoyé du Baron de Beaudiner aux Etats du Velay de 1769. Claude Ignace Urbain de Saint-Sauveur, curé du Monastier, porté sur la liste des émigrés de la Haute-Loire, fut détenu à l'île de Ré en 1798, libéré en 1799 et mourut curé du Monastier (avril 1818); un docteur en théologie, proclamé maire du Puy (1792) etc.. ...
