Cette famille apparaît dès le XIIIème siècle dans la région de Chalancon. On ne peut obtenir une filiation suivie d'après divers contrats de mariage qu'à partir de la fin du XVIème siècle, depuis Jean Sonier qui fut notaire et juge châtelain à Châteauneuf près Vernoux, où il vint se fixer à la suite de son mariage avec demoiselle Ysabeau Alibert, fille à noble Claude. I. Jean Sonier, marié à Yzabeau Alibert d'où Jean et Daniel qui suit: II Daniel Sonier, marié, le 16 mars 1635, avec honeste Anne Chastaing, d'où: III. Daniel Sonier, marié à demoiselle Catherine Crumières du Serre à Saint-Fortunat, d'où: IV. Charles Sonier qui, veuf de Claudine Canson, épousa, le 23 avril 1727 Jeanne de la Selve du Faïn, fille de noble André Guy de la Selve, sieur du Faïn et de dame Magdeleine de Meissonnier de Lubac. Ses fils furent Henri qui épousa Pierrette d'Escours, dame des Ollières, Alexandre et Pierre Saint-Ange qui suit: V. Pierre Saint-Ange Sonier de Lubac épousa, le 26 novembre 1766, demoiselle Catherine Martin du Besset. Il fut notaire à Vernoux, puis juge châtelain. En 1814 il reçut la décoration du Lys. De ce mariage nacquirent Henri-Saint-Ange qui continua la lignée, Alexandre qui fut tué à l'ennemi, capitaine dans l'armée des Pyrénées-Orientales et Jean-Antoine, marié à N. Malleval. VI. Henri, né le 6 mars 1768, fut lieutenant aux hussards de Bercheni avant la révolution. Il épousa Mademoiselle Jeanne-Marguerite-Noël Boyer de Sugny. Il eut de ce mariage: Pierre-Marie-Alphonse qui suit, Henri, ancien magistrat, marié à Mademoiselle Dode, décédé après avoir perdu ses trois fils Henri, Saint-Ange et Louis; 3° Angèle, mariée à Antoine de Guillin d'Avenas. Il fut pourvu de lettres de noblesse le 20 juillet 1829. VII. Pierre-Marie-Alphonse Sonier de Lubac, fut garde du corps du Roi sous la Restauration. Retiré du service, il épousa, le 26 janvier 1830, Mademoiselle Louise Blachette et eut pour enfants: Marie, décédée jeune, et Jules qui suit. VIII. Jules Sonier, ancien sous-préfet. IX. Augustin-Maurice, né le 17 juin 1860, marié le 20 avril 1892, à Mademoiselle Gabrielle de Beaurepaire, a plusieurs enfants: Henri, Paul, Xavier, Louise, ...
