On serait porté à confirmer cette affirmation quand on examine les armoiries de cette maison et les alliances nobles qu’elle a eu pendant plusieurs siècles. Au nom de cette famille on attribue un signe distinctif de noblesse représenté par le blason que l’on reproduit ci-dessous et qui confirme aussi à travers ses emblêmes, au point de vue historique et heraldique, l’assurance d’une valeur historique de patrimoine, de noblesse et de valeur. Ces armes sont ainsi inscrites dans L’Armorial Général de France. Le premier auteur connu est: Gabriel, écuyer, sieur de Bélair, fut maintenu dans sa noblesse par Pellot, en 1667. De son mariage avec Marie Soüan, il eut: 1° François, seigneur de Bélair et de Couronneau, chevalier de St-Louis, lieutenant-colonel au régiment de Brisat, marié en 1710 à Marie de Grailly; 2° Alexandre, capitaine d'infanterie, marié en 1714 à Charlotte de Grailly, fille de Jean et de S.-H. de Ségur; 3° Pierre, sieur de Bélair.
