Linaje catalán. Tuvo su primitivo solar en el lugar de Vacarisses del partido judicial de Terrassa y provincia de Barcelona. Fray Domingo Obac, sacerdote de la Real Orden de Nuestra Señora de la Merced, fue uno de los procuradores designados, en 1317, para impetrar la confirmación apostólica del prior general de dicha Orden, fray Ramón Albert, según consta de un instrumento que se custodiaba en el Archivio de la Merced, de Barcelona, signado con la letra Y, número 14. Varios hijos de esta familia desempeñaron el cago de conseller de Barcelona, entre ellos Juan Obac, por los años 1454, y otro Juan Obac, en 1526. Un nuevo Juan Obac, nacido en Vacarisses, fue canónigo arcediano de Barcelona, profesor deFilosofia en su universidad y elocuente predicator. En 1702 se imprimió el sermón que había pronunciado en la catedral de dicha ciudad con motivo de haber recobrado la salud el rey Felipe V. Cristóbal Obac tuvo por hijo a Baltasar Obac, que casó con doña María del Río, padres de Félix Obac fiscal de la Inquisición de Barcelona y después del consejo supremo de la misma. Poco antes de morir en Roma, en 1679, era auditor de la Rota. Los Obac tienen seputura en la capilla de Santa Lucía de la catedral de Barcelona, data del siglo XIV. ...
