La casa solar de este linaje fué una de las antiguas pobladoras de la provincia de Guipúzcoa, muy conocida y de notoria hidalguía de sangre. Estaba sita en la jurisdicción de la ciudad de Fuenterrabía, y dice Domingo de Lizaso que por observaciones y memorias antiguas manuscritas y fidedignas, consta que de dicho solar tomó el nombre la Universidad de Irún-U. Era casa de Cabo de armería y ostentaba en su fachada el escudo de armas. De ella fué descendiente por varonía Don Miguel Lucas de U., nacido en la villa de Usúrbol, del partido judicial de San Sebastián, y doncel del Rey Enrique IV, en cuya casa real vivió sirviénsole durante mucho tiempo. Túvole ese Monarca en tal alta estimación que le hizo grandes mercedes y le nombró Condestable de Castilla. Martín de la Rentería y U., nacido en Rentería en el último terco del siglo XV, fué famoso Capitán, llamado el Capitán de la Rentería, que a bordo de un galeón luchó contra Barbarroja en aguas de Ibizia, obteniendo una gran victoria, por lo que el Emperados Carlos V le autorizó para acrecentar sus armas en la forma que luego veremos. Dice Lizaso que los de este apellido dieron nombre a la antigua Universidad de Urún-U., que hoy es villa. Juan Carlos de Guerra trata de este Capitán en el apellido U., pues le llama el Capitán Machin Pérez de U., y a un hijo suyo, Juan Pérez de U., y dice que venció al corsario francés Juan Florín. Juan Pérez de U. venció al Barón de San Blacante, apoderándose de su navío. ...
