Procede de Guipúzcoa y pasó al Duranguesado, en Vizcaya. Los U. moraron en la villa de Mondragón desde la creación de ésta por el Rey don Alfonso X, el Sabio, en 1260, y procedián de otra casa de U., sita en la jurisdicción de la villa de Elgueta. De éstos fué: Hortuño de U., padre de Sancho Ortiz de U., vecino de la calle de Ferrerías de Mondragón, en 1342. Procreó a Sancho Martínez de U., Alcande de Mondragón de 1353, que asistió con el Rey don Enrique II de Castilla, en 1374, al cerco de Bayona. Casó con doña Catalina López de Alcíbar, y procrearon a Pedro Sánchez de U. y Alcíbar, que sirvió a don Juan II en las guerras de Navarra. Contrajo matriomonio con doña Isabel de Cilaurren y fueron padres de Martín Pérez de U. y Cilaurren, Jurado de Mondragón en 1429, que unió en matrimonio con doña Pascuala Ximénez de Olabe, y de este enlace nació Pedro García, de U. y Ximénez de Olabe, que casó con doña Martina García de Oro, y tuvieron varios hijos, siendo el primogénito y sucesor Martín Pérez de U. y de Oro, que sirvió a los Reyes Católicos y al Emperador Carlos V. Fundó las casas principales de U. en la calle de Iturrioz, de Mondragón, y casó con doña María López de Alzarte, a la que hizo madre de Jorge Martínez de U. y Alzarte, de quien hizo una semblanza Garibay. Tuvo esposa a doña Simona de Ozaeta y Bañez de Artazubíaga. Sin sucesión. Fuera de matrimonio tuvo a Juan Martínez de U., nacido en 1525, que sucedió en la casa de U. y militó en Cataluña, Flandes e Italia. ...
