Essa ha goduto nobiltá nelle cittá di Napoli ai Seggi di Porto e di Portanova, Lucera, Chieti ove godeva le primarie prerogtive a Roma ove trovasi ascritta in Campidoglio come appartenente al patriziato. I Valignano vestirono l'Abito di Malta nellk'anno 1553, ed ottennero il titolo di Conte Palatini. I rami nobili ai SEggi di napoli e quello nobile a Lucera si estinsero. Il ramo de' Valignano, Duchi di Alanno, si estinsero nella famiglia Bassi. Questa famiglia edificó in Chieti la Chiesa di S. Lucia e quella di S. Anna col Collegio de' Padri delle scuole pie. Di essa sorgono Monumenti in Chieti nel Duomo e nelle Chiese de' PP. Domenica, de' Riformati, de' PP. Cappuccini, de' PP. Crociferi, di S. Francesco, di S. Chiara e nel monastero di S. Maria: in Penne nella Chiesa di S. Givoanni di Gerusalemme: in Ceppagatti ed in Miglianico. Tra i membri piú illustri della famiglia ricordiamo Trasmando, Consigliere dello Imperatore Federico II, dal quale fu inviato Ambasciatore per far cessare le discordie tra' Bolognesi ed i Fiorentini. Eleuterio, preses parte alla giostra data in Barletta da Re Manfredi in onore dello Imperatore Baldovino: e con lui faronvi Alberto Piscicello, Cataldo e Iacopo Protontino di Taranto. Il detto Eleuterio avendo riportata vittoria nella giostra su molti giostratori, ebbe stretta da una mano. Motto della famiglia: Decoravit integritatem et servavit odorem. ...
