Famille noble établie en Bretagne depuis plusieurs siècles qui compte au nombre de ses membres les seigneurs de Poulguinan (paroisse d'Ergué-Armel). Parmi les membres les plus marquants de cette famille on signale: un receveur général des devoirs à Quimper en 1760. Dans un catalogue manuscrit dressé vers l'époque des recherches de la vraie et fausse noblesse, 1666, sous le nom de François et autre François Vars, seigneur de Vauzelles, habitant dudit repaire, paroisse de Nanteuil, sénéchaussée de Périgueux, on trouve aussi ces armes: D'azur à trois coeurs d'argent. Elles se voient de même dans le Nobiliaire du Limousin, par Nadaud. Un Jean de Vars, écuyer, seigneur de Vauzelles, écuyer ordinaire de la grande écurie du roi, de la paroisse de Nanteuil, chàtellenie de Bourzac (en Pèrigord), fit son testament le 30 juin 1635; il avait épousé Isabelle de Lambert. Le nom de cette famille figure dans la liste des maintenuse de noblesse de 1666 (Nobiliaire de Nadaud). ...
