Nobility crown VerninacCette famile, qui paraìt originaire de l'Auvergne, remonte, par titres authentiques, à Jacques, vivant en 1519 à Souillac, en Quercy. Les Verninac se rattachent au Périgord par diverses alliances, entre autres avec les familles de la Tour du Roc, de Chassaigne, de Laval, de Bousquet de Salignac, de Lestrade de Floirac, de la Cheze, etc.. François, de son mariage avec Malguerie Delpit de Lile de Salignac, en Périgord, eut plusieurs enfants, dont un, Raymond Verninac, qui fut ministre de la marine, amiral et gouverneur de possessions françaises dans l'Inde. Son nom est sur l'obélisque de Luxor qu'il avait ramené d'Egypte, étant capitaine de frégate. Il est mort en 1872, laissant un fils, Raymond Verninac de St-Maur, capitaine de frégate, officier de la Légion-d'Honneur, décédé au château du Petit-Change, près Périgueux, le 19 juillet 1887. Sa carrière s'annonçait non moins brillante que celle de son père, lorsque la mort est venue brusquement la briser à l'àge de 43 ans, ne laissant pas de postérité de son mariage avec Mlle Marie Dubois. ...
