Si vuole che siano oriundi da Scutari di Albania, soggetta nel 1478 alla Repubblica Veneta. Quando Scutari fu invasa dai Turchi, avrebbero emigrato a Zara, a Cattaro, a Perzagno ed in altri paesi, dove fioriscono ancora, Dicesi inoltre che i Verona si chiamassero Gargurevich e Gargurovich. Certo è che alcuni membri di questa famiglia occuparono gradi superiori nell'esercito della Repubblica di Venezia a Verona, dove lungamente abitarono e presero il soprannome di V., che poi rimase definitivo come casato alla loro famiglia. Col progredire degli anni una parte dei V. si trasferì a Cefalonia, ove fu ascritta a quel nobile Consiglio nel secolo XVI. Ancora una volta il cognome si modificò nel greco Syoronos ed il ramo rimasto dalmato venne aggregato al nobile Consiglio di Cattaro nel 1806. Questa famiglia annovera cittadini veneziani, medici, sacerdoti, ecc., ma più che tutto emerse nella navigazione, che fu poi la causa, in epoche diverse, della sua emigrazione in tutte le sponde del mare Adriatico. Fra i membri della famiglia è da ricordare Giuseppe provveditore ai Confini, che intervenne per la Repubblica veneta al Congresso di Trento, ed era in rapporti nel 1350 con l'apostata vescovo Vergerio. ...
