Quien fuera el principal ancestro y tronco porpagador de este ilustre linaje, se ignora su remota antigüedad, siendo tradicional e inmemorial la nobleza de sus hijos, los cuales han gozado siempre y en todas partes de la consideración y preeminencias correspondientes a sus lustrosos nacimientos, no siendo la menos esclarecida de sus líneas la que arraigó y floreció en Vizcaya. Diego Sánchez de Aedo, tuvo un hijo bastardo, que se llamó Sancho V. y sólo dejó hijas. Se extendió sin embargo, el apellido por Vizcaya y Guipúzcoa. Lope y Juan V. eran vecinos de Oñate en 1477; Juan Villar, oidor; Pedro y Martín V. vivían en Mondragón por el año 1530. Mateo V., vecino de Oñate en 1500, casó con Doña María López de Aguirre y fueron padres de Domingo V. y Aguirre, que celebró su enlace con Doña Magdalena de Urteaga y Ecibary y procrearon a Pedro V. y Urteaga, esposo de Doña Isabel de Echeverría Iturrioz a la que hizo madre de Magdalena V. y Echevarría que en 1682, casó con Miguel Liger de Gamboa. Otra casa de V. radicó en la villa de Gordejuela del partido de Valmaseda (Vizcaya) y de ella fué Domingo de V., casado con Doña María de la Torre, a la que hizo madre de Pedro de V. y de la Torre, bautizado en Gordejuela, el 14 de Junio de 1639, que fué padre de José de V., bautizado en Gordejuela, el 15 de Enero de 1669, quien contrajo matrimonio con Doña María de Arrazaín y procrearon a Juan de V. y Arrazaín, bautizado en la Catedral de Méijco, el 30 de Mayo de 1734 y el 15 de Diciembre de 1788 ganó Real provisión vizcaína en la Chancilleria de Valladolid. De la misma casa procedió Manuel de V., y Urtusáustegui, natural del Valle de Gordejuela y residente en Bilbao que ganó otra Real provisión de hidalguía, el 13 de Octubre de 1780.
