Nobility crown VivensLes armes des Vivant (ou Vivans), sont ainsi décrites dans le Grand Armorial de France (registre de Sarlat), sous le nom de Joseph-Geoffroy Vivans, comte de Pouyac, seigneur de Doissac, le Boscq et autres lieux. Elles sont les mêmes sur le tombeau de Geoffroy Vivans, ce chef du parti calviniste, en Pèrigord, en Agenais, en Quercy et en Limousin, dont l'activité, le courage et l'audace lui valurent d'être successivement chambellan du roi de Navarre, membre de son conseil privé, mestre de camp de la cavalerie, et gouverneur en Périgord et en Limousin. Le grand nombre de lettres dont l'honora le futur Henry IV, témoignent assez du cas que le brave Bèarnais faisait de sa personne. Une notice sur la famille, insérée en note de la généalogie de Toucheboeuf, par M. de Saint Allais, constate que la maison de ce nom était noble et ancienne en Périgord. Par l'extinction de cette famille dans celle de la Verrie, cette dernière a accolé le blason de Vivant au sen propre. Sous cette double dénomination comparurent, le 16 mars 1788, à l'assemblée générale des Trois-Etats de la province du Périgord, Ordre de la Noblesse, haut et puissant seigneur messire Antoine, seigneur de Siorac, Doissac, Villefranche, en Pèrigord, et autres places, habitant en son château de Siorac; messire Joseph, chevalier, seigneur de Vilefranche, capitaine de grenadiers au régiment du maréchal de Turenne, habitant au repaire de Carlou, paroisse de Saint-Amand. ...
