Hubo familias del apellido Flor en Cataluña y en Valencia. La de este última región se apellidó Flors. Ambas, a juzgar por sus escudos, debieron dimanar de los Flor del Valle de Piélagos, provincia de Santander. Otra familia, distinta de las anteriores, llevó, desde tiempos muy antiguos, en Mallorca, el apellido Flor, que es lo mismo en aquella isla, según Bover, que Z., pues en documentos antiguos aparece escrito ese linaje Flor y Z. indistintamente. Uno de los primeros caballeros de la familia Flor mallorquina fue Guillermo Flor, que en 1285 juró obediencia al rey don Alonso III de Aragón, como diputado por la villa de Muro. Otro Guillermo Flor poseía, en 1343, la caballería de Lloró, en Santa Margarita, y fue aquel año baile general de la isla. Pedro Flor, doctor en medicina, fue médico de cámara del rey don Pedro IV de Aragón, y este monarca, con fecha 30 de febrero de 1381, le concedió, así como a su hijo Juan, una pensión anual de 150 reales de oro, de Mallorca, por haberle curado de una grave enfermedad. Juan Flor, también médico, y acaso hijo del anterior, era jurado en 1394, 1405 y 1409, de la ciudad de Mallorca, por el estamento de ciudadanos. Llevando el pendón real figuró en la comitiva que acudió a recibir al rey don Martín de Sicilia, cuando éste llegó a Mallorca. En el año de 1443 desempeñó el cargo de veguer en la misma ciudad. ...
