Antico ed assai nobile casato, oriundo di Barletta, con residenza in Napoli ed in Roma, propagatosi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Tal famiglia, sin dal 1771, ebbe il feudo di Zapponeta, l'odierna Manfredonia, sul quale ebbe riconosciuto il titolo baronale, con R.D. 22 marzo 1900. Michele Zezza (Napoli, 1780 - ivi, 1867) fu un insigne poeta e scrittore napoletano. Egli, infatti, compose numerose opere, specialmente per il celebre teatro San Carlino, alcune delle quali furono salvate dalla distruzione, per l'attenzione di Luigi Chiurazzi che riuscì ad acquistarle appena in tempo da un rigattiere.
