Alla morte del padre (1226), Ulrich ebbe in eredità il baliaggio di A. (signoria da cui il casato prende il nome), Arconciel, Illens e Strassberg (che Ulrich cedette prima del 1251 a suo fratello Berthold in cambio di Valangin). I beni di Ulrich vennero divisi tra i suoi figli. Uno di essi, Guillaume (menz. 1270, morte 1323), capostipite del ramo dei signori di A.-A., nel 1272 divenne proprietario di A. con il titolo di conte; nel 1296 egli cedette Arconciel e Illens, che in seguito, per via matrimoniale, tornarono a suo figlio Pierre (verso il 1300-prima del 1372).
