Nobility crown AbatiFamiglia di origine Lombarda. Combatterono contro Ecellino. Un Antonio esercitò mercatura e fu "Consiliarius mercadantie Mantuae" e membro del Comune, dei cui affari si occupò nel 1291 e 1202 trattando la pace con Verona e la lega con Padova e Bologna. Filippo fu Cavaliere e Podestà di Viadana. Giambattista, di Matteo, rialzò il ramo noto per la sua povertà, e nel 1520 fu Cancelliere e poi Segretario del Marchese di Mantova, dal quale ebbe in dono alquanti beni. Altro ramo. Antica famiglia originaria di Firenze detta Abate o Abbati, nel 1379 si trapiantò in Cesena, al cui Consiglio nobile venne aggregata. Vestirono l'abito di Santo Stefano di Toscana Francesco e Camillo; Ettore fu uditore di Sacra Ruota in Firenze, in Ferrara e in Genova, avvocato concistoriale in Roma e confidente del Cardinale De Medici; Ventura creato Vescovo di Bertinoro da Martino V nel 1429.
