Der erste, der dieses Haus nach Sizilien verpflanzte, war Ferratonio, welcher im Jahre 1282 im Dienste König Peter des Ersten stand und zusammen mit seinen Söhnen Nicolò, Francesco und Giovanni als Lohn für seine Verdienste die Verwaltung der Insel Malta und Gozzo empfing, von welcher sie jedoch durch König Friedrich den Zweiten abberufen wurden. In der Folge erhielten die genannten Francesco und Giovanni das Lehen Giaesi und die Kastellanei San Filippo d’Agiro, während Nicolò ferner das Lehen Raginelgi im Gebiet von Caltagirone sowie die Hauptmannschaft der Stadt Palermo im Jahre 1360 anvertraut wurde. Aus dieser Linie gingen Giovanni, Ferrarone und Nicolò der Zweite hervor, letzterer erhielt die Kastellanei des Schlosses von Syrakus und vermählte sich mit Liandra di Apulia, wodurch sein Sohn Raimondo in die Güter von Ferren di Apulia, seinem mütterlichen Onkel, eintrat, die ihm durch König Martin im Jahre 1397 bestätigt wurden. Giovanni, Sohn des ersten Nicolò, verehelichte sich in Messina mit Giulia, Tochter des Salvitto Abrugnale, eines angesehenen Bürgers jener Stadt. ...
