Nobility crown Alférez De XodarEste linaje de Alférez, unido al de Xódar, procede de la ciudad de Baeza. En la batalla de Guadalherce, librada el año de 1326, y en la que D. Juan Manuel venció y desbarató al moro Ozmín, caudillo del ejército del Rey de Granada, llevó el pendón de la ciudad de Baeza el Alférez mayor de la misma, Pedro Martínez de Xódar. Este caballero, seguido de los nobles de la ciudad, se metió con el pendón en lo más rudo de la pelea, y produjo su enemigo, consiguieron ponerle en fuga, logrando la victoria. Terminada la batalla, fué encontrado muerto el valeroso Alférez. Habían intentado los moros durante la pelea arrebatarle el pendón, cortándole los brazos a la altura de los codos; pero el esforzado Pedro Martínez de Xódar lo defendió heroicamente, cayendo muerto abrazado con los tocones a su estandarte. El Rey Don Alfonso XI premió esta hazaña concediendo un privilegio a los sucesores del mencionado Alférez; privilegio que confirmó después el Rey Don Enrique III. Los descendientes del Alférez Pedro Martínez de Xódar, deseando perpetuar la memoria de la valerosa hazaña realizada por su antecesor, tomaron por apellido el nombre del cargo que éste había tenido, y comenzaron a apellidarse Alférez de Xódar, y otros Alférez solamente. Son sus armas: En oro, un moral de sinople con fruto de gules, y dos cuervos de sable, al pie del moral. Bordura de gules con ocho aspas de oro. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia A., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales. Los esmaltes del arma de los A. pregonan los siguientes valores: el Oro es el símbolo del Sol, origen de la vida, sus características espirituales corresponden a la fé, clemencia, templanza, caridad y justicia, por otra parte dicho esmalte señala a la familia con la felicidad, el amor, la nobleza y el esplendor, es decir, es el más noble de los metales. ...
