Nei primi decenni del XIII sec. gli Allegrone partecipavano attivamente alla vita pubblica della loro patria: Giovanni, consigliere, nelle sedute del 12 e 17 marzo 1218 giura di osservare gli accordi stipulati tra i comuni di Tortona e Genova (Chartarium, 134); un Allegronus non meglio identificato, il predetto Giovanni ed Allegronus di Rainero, tutti tre credendari, il 16 maggio 1224 deliberano in merito alla somma di lire mille che i consoli di Tortona si obbligano versare al marchese Del Bosco a saldo del luogo omonimo acquistato dal Comune (id. 171; Cartaio Alessandrino, II, 329); contrasti tra Tortona e Genova promuovono l'arbitrato del podestà di Pavia: pertanto podestà e ambasciatori dei comuni in lite il 28 luglio 1229 promettono di osservare il lodo che sarà pronunciato; tra gli ambasciatori tortonesi è presente il già menzionato Giovanni Allegrone (Chartarium, 179); a questi il prevosto della Chiesa di Tortona il 25 giugno 1236 ...
