Cosme, concelho de Gondomar, junto do Porto, foi rico-homem e alferes-mor de D. Afonso II e casado com D. Urraca Viegas. Dum dos seus filhos, D. Mendo Soares de Melo, provieram os deste apelido, e de outro. Pedro Soarez de A., os Alvins. Este Pedro Soares, que primeiro se chamou de Pousada, por viver durante algum tempo na quinta deste nome, situada na freguesia de S.
