En el lugar de A. (cuyo nombre tomó), del Ayuntamiento de Aspárrena y partido judicial de Vitoria. Esta casa es una de las más antigua de Álava. Pedro de A. acompañó al Rey don Alfonso XI en la batalla de Tarifa. Pasó el apellido a Guipúzcoa. Juan Manuel de A. Báñez Artazubiaga, probó su hidalguía ante la Justicia ordinaria de Mondragón, en 1722. Estaba casado con doña Polonia Antonia de Plaza, y en 1723 litigó con doña María Teresa de Zuloaga, vecina de Fuenterrabía, sobre la sucesión en el mayorazgo de Plaza, fundando el 8 de Enero de 1526 por Fernando de la Plaza y doña Teresa Ruiz de la Plaza, vecino de Marquina, para dotar a su hija María de la Plaza, al casar con Juan de Ubilla. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia A., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales, pues la inclusión del elemento torre significa que la nobleza es sólida y antigua, pues solamente los muy ricos podían costearse su construcción. Los esmaltes del arma de los A. pregonan los siguientes valores: el Oro es el símbolo del Sol, origen de la vida, sus características espirituales corresponden a la fé, clemencia, templanza, caridad y justicia, por otra parte dicho esmalte señala a la familia con la felicidad, el amor, la nobleza y el esplendor, es decir, es el más noble de los metales. ...
