Originaria di Provenza fu una delle famiglie che si trapiantarono nel regno di Napoli alla venuta di Carlo I d'Angiò. Nel 1401 Perretto fu creato conte di Troia da re Ladislao e capitano di guerra in Ungheria, Dalmazia e Croazia; nel 1413 ebbe in feudo anche Minervino in Terra di Bari, e le terre di Ursara, Precina, Tresanto e Castelluccia. Successivamente la famiglia fu ricevuta nell'ordine di Malta per pruova fatta nel 1707 da Giovanni. Decorata del titolo di marchese di Pescopagano; il 10 giugno 1710 nella persona di Gennaro fu ammessa nelle Regie Guardie del Corpo, ed aggregata nel 1816 alla nobiltà romana. Possedette questi altri feudi: Panete e Panetelli in Terra di Lavoro, Sassano e Varallo nel Molise. Altro ramo. Fu aggregata alla nobiltà romana con senatus consultus dell'anno 1816. ...
