El linaje tuvo su primitivo solar en el barrio de Antuñano (cuyo nombre tomó), perteneciente al Concejo de Bortedo, del Valle de Mena, partido judicial de Villarcayo y provincia de Burgos. Así lo afirma Jerónimo de Villa. Sus ramas se extendieron por otras localidades del partido judicial de Villarcayo, pasando después a las provincias de Álava, Vizcaya, Madrid, Cuenca y Avila. En todas esas provincias conservaron algunas ramas el apellido de A., mientras otras lo modificaron adoptando las modalidades de Antoniano y Antoñano. De la rama de Álava fueron Benito y Marcelo Antonio A. Salsamendi, vecinos de Vitoria. Los dos ganaros provisión de hidalguía en la Real Chancillería de Valladolid, en 1794. En la provincia de Vizcaya se apellidaron indistintamente A. y Antoniano, y en ella radicaron Francisco Antonio Antoniano y Jenaro Benito A. El primero probó su hidalguía ante el Corregidor y Diputados de Vizcaya en 1793, y el segundo, en 1830. Sus expedientes se conservan en el Archivo General de la casa de Juntas de Guernica. De una línea establecida en la villa de Valmaseda, fué Francisco Nicolás A. Basualdo Abásolo y Villa, que ganó Real provisión de nobleza ante el Juez Mayor de Vizcaya. También ganó igual provisión en la Real Chancillería de Valladolid. En 1827 figuró entre los Caballeros hijosdalgo recibidos en el Estado Noble de Madrid, y que entraron en suertes, ejerciendo los cargos del Ayuntamiento. ...
