El noble apellido Aparicio, con linaje de hijosdalgo, tuvo su primitivo solar en el lugar de Barruelo, del Ayuntamiento del Valle de Ruesga y partido judicial de Ramales, en la provincia de Santander. Ramas ilustres de ese solar pasaron a León, Salamanca, Toledo, Almagro, Murcia, Aragón, Cataluña, Valencia, Andalucía, Extremadura y América. De la rama de León fueron los hermanos: Jerónimo, Melchor, Baltasar, Manuel, Gaspar y José Aparicio. Melchor casó con doña Juana López, y fueron padres de Juan Aparicio, Jerónimo Aparicio y Jerónima Aparicio. De dicho Melchor procedió también la línea de Aparicio, que hizo asiento en la Habana, y de la que fueron Miguel Aparicio, vecino de dicha capital, y su primo hermano Esteban Aparicio, que probó su nobleza para ingresar en la Orden de Santiago. La rama de Salamanca procede de Juan Manuel Aparicio, que floreció en el reinado del Emperador Carlos V. Una de sus líneas radicó en Ciudad Rodrigo y otra en Madrid. De la rama de Toledo fue progenitor Miguel de Aparicio, por los años de 1490. La rama que hizo asiento en Almagro pasó después a tierra de Murcia, estableciéndose cerca de Caravaca. De la ascendencia de la rama de Aragón tenemos a Pedro de Aparicio, que casó con doña Teresa de Villegas, en que procreó a Catalina de Aparicio, llamada de Valladolid, por las haciendas que en esta ciudad tenía; ésta contrajo matrimonio con Alonso de Santo Domingo, caballero muy ponderado de Burgos, y tuvieron por hijos a Juan de Santo Domingo, de quien vienen los de este linaje, y Pedro de Aparicio, quien casó con doña María Martínez, y fueron padres de Juan Aparicio, que contrajo matrimonio en la villa de Villamizar, del partido judicial de Sahagún (León), con doña Ángela Escobar, de la que tuvo a Diego Aparicio, que casó con doña María Hurtado, naciendo de esta unión: Francisco Aparicio Cojeces, y Diego Aparicio Cojeces, en la que ambos dejaron sucesores en Aragón.
