Nobility crown ArmellinoAntica ed assai nobile famiglia ligure, di chiara ed avita virtù, conosciuta come Armellino o Armellina, diffusasi nei secoli per tutta l'Italia, godendo ovunque prestigio e nobiltà. I maggiori insediamenti si ebbero nel nizzardo e nel Piemonte benché alcuni rami siano pregevolmente fioriti anche nel Regno di Sicilia. Nel "Giornale di Araldica e Genealogia", fascicolo gennaio-febbraio 1953, pag. 74, leggiamo: "Le più remote notizie di questa illustre Casa ci provengono da Genova, da dove, secondo accreditate cronache è originaria. Si trasferì sin da antica epoca in Messina...". Dissente parzialmente lo storico Antonio Manno secondo cui la casata sarebbe originaria di Tortona, ove era signora di Torre Armellina, da donde poi sarebbe passata in Genova e quindi diramata nel resto d'Italia. Ed infatti proprio in Tortona si hanno antichissime notizie della casata. Oberto e Oglerio A. figurano quali testi in un atto dell'aprile 1124 con cui i figli di Lanfranco Visdonimo, ...
