Ursprünglich als Hermogida bekannt, später Armogida oder Ermogida genannt, war es der Hauptwohnsitz in Calabria Ultra und genauer gesagt in der Stadt Catanzaro, wo es bereits 1639, als Filippo Hermogida mit all seinen Besitztümern aufblühte, zu den alten und edlen zählte Nachkommen, wurde im angestammten Adel bestätigt. Diese Familie ist in der Tat sogar noch älterer Herkunft, denn 1516 blühte der Maurermeister Antonio Hermogida in Squillace (Catanzaro) auf, während 1569 die Adlige Diana Hermogida, Ehefrau des Adligen Consalvo Linares, in Gioiosa Ionica blühte.
