Nobility crown ArtiedaHay dos familias distintas de este apellido. Una es originaria de Navarra, con casa solar en el lugar de A. (cuyo nombre tomó), del Ayuntamiento de Urraúl Bajo, y partido judicial de Aoiz. La otra procede de Aragón, con solar en la villa de Artieda (cuyo nombre tomó también), del partido judicial de Soso (Zaragoza). Cada una de ellas, como se ve, tiene solar distinto, variando también sus armas. Los A., de Navarra, fueron poderosos infanzones. Algunos autores señalan como tronco suyo a Sancho Vélez de A., que casó con doña Leonor Fortúnez, y fueron progenitores de los de este apellido en Navarra. Otros tratadistas dicen que fué hijo de este matrimonio Juan Fortúnez de Bitarque, poblador en Murcia. Una rama muy distinguida de los A., de Navarra, radicó en la villa de Lumbier, del partido judicial de Aoiz, y de ella fué Martín de A., natural de Lumbier, que casó con doña Graciosa Álvarez, natural de Pamplona, y fueron padres de Juan de A., natural de Lumbier, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Ana de Ayesa, de la misma naturaleza, naciendo de esa unión Juan de A. y Pérez, segundo del nombre, natural de Lumbier y caballero de la Orden de Santiago, en la que ingresó el 4 de Septiembre de 1656. Los A., de Aragón, son caballeros hijosdalgo muy antiguos, pues reinando García Ximénez fundó su solar el caballero Ximénez de A. En 1287 era Alcalde del Castillo de Godojos Lorenzo Martínez de A. En 1283 otro Ximénez de A. servía al Rey Pedro III de Aragón en la guerra de Sicilia. ...
