Antica ed assai nobile famiglia piemontese, conosciuta come Bajardo, Bajardi o Baiardi, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. La tradizione vuole che essa discenda da Pierre Terrail de Bayard (Pontcharra, 1476 – Rovasenda, 30 aprile 1524), detto “il Baiardo”, noto per essersi distinto durante le guerre rinascimentali italiane. Tuttavia tracce del casato le rinveniamo già nel secolo decimo secondo, nel Nord Italia.
