Antica ed assai nobile famiglia, secondo alcuni autori originaria da Bologna, secondo altri dalla Dalmazia, conosciuta come Bocchio, Bocchia o Bucchia, passata a risiedere in Friuli nel XIII secolo e propagatasi, successivamente, in diverse regioni del Nord Italia, con maggiori insediamenti in territorio veneto.
