Antica famiglia, oriunda da Gubbio, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Pietro Paolo Bonacelli, comandante della Fortezza della Stellata, avendo sposato Angela Lavinia Luzi, si trasferì nel 1756 a Fossombrone. Egli nel 1758 fu ammesso nel Nobile Consiglio e ricoprì le cariche di Priore e Gonfaloniere, acquistando così la nobiltà. Ebbe Francesco, il quale a sua volta ebbe Giuseppe (1777-1862), e Filippo, nato il 10 ottobre 1762, creato vescovo di Ripatransone, il 24 maggio 1824, e di Pesaro, il 15 dicembre 1828, scomparso 30 gennaio 1839. Il detto Giuseppe ebbe, anch'egli due figli, ossia: Alessandro Ivo (n. 10 gennaio 1815) e Ferdinando. Alessandro ebbe ben 8 figli. Ferdinando, invece, il quale era nato a Fossombrone il 13 agosto 1822 e morto a Fano 2 giugno 1891, seguitò il ramo di Fossombrone. Egli nel 1840 fu soldato nelle Legione Romana. Nel 1850 sposò ...
