Originaria di Ravello passata in Bitonto pare con un Sergio Bove, figlio a quanto dicono di un Cioffo, possessore già di un feudo nel Bitontino. Fu aggregata alla nobiltà di Bitonto da tempo remoto e vi rimase iscritta sino all'abolizione generale dei sedili. Per segnalati servizi resi agli angioini ottenne la famiglia la facoltà di aggiungere un K con corona d'oro allo stemma avito. Fu ricevuta nell'ordine di Malta più volte: nel 1619 come quarto del cav. Troiano Gentile; nel 1663 come quarto del cav. Antonio Sylos; nel 1745 come quarto del cav. Alvaro Candido e nel 1774 direttamente, mediante le persone dei fratelli Sergio e Nicola. Di questa Casa fu Giovanni, vescovo di Larino nel 1221. Giacomo, figlio di Sergio primo a stabilirsi in Bitonto ai tempi del ptrimo angiono, fu ufficiale del sale per la Regia Corte in Gaeta e maestro portulano e procuratore di Puglia nel 1291. ...
