Nobility crown BraneNoblesse vellave, répandue en Vivarais et dans le diocèse de Bèziers. On trouve dès 1007, un Brenne, mort en 1030, allié à Isabelle Motier. Branche fixée successivement dans la vicomté de Polignac, dans la baronnie de Solignac, puis au Monastier-St-Chaffre et à Yssingeaux. Louis-Simon châtelain de Solignac-sur-Loire pour le vicomte de Polignac, chargé de veiller aux prérogatives du chapitre de N.-D. du Puy, prêta le serment d'hommage le 15 des calendes de déc. 1387. Louis-Julien son fils, épousa Isabelle d'Agrain dont il eut trois fils. Étienne seigneur d'Oriol, tige de la branche du Vivarais, se maria deux fois: 1° en 1572 à Clauda de Manoa; 2° à Marie-Anne de Fay-Gerlande. Maintenue en Languedoc par jugement souverain de monsieur de Bezons, le 26 nov. 1668, en la personne d'Alexandre seigneur de Carrès, coeseigneur d'Oriol. Plusieurs baillis généraux de mandement et baronnie de Solignac, l'un d'eux Simon écuyer, seigneur de Chéris, époux d'Anne des Arcis (1647); des officiers de la maison de Polignac. Louis, premier consul du Monastier, assista en cette qualité le 10 mai 1746, à l'assemblée des États du Velay. ...
