Das edle Geschlecht derer von Burbach entstammt dem gleichnamigen Dorfe Burbach, gelegen im Selbacher Grund unweit Siegen, und tritt seit dem Jahre 1324 als Ganerben des Hauses von Selbach, mit welchem sie gemeinsamer Herkunft sind, urkundlich in Erscheinung. Im Selbacher Grund besaß diese ehrwürdige Linie mehrere bedeutende Güter, zudem war ihr im Nassauischen ein Zehnt zu Muschenbach bei Hachenburg sowie zu Schupach bei Runkel zugehörig. Um das Jahr 1400 jedoch scheint das Geschlecht derer von Burbach erloschen zu sein. Namentlich genannt werden Heinrich Burbach, im Jahre 1270 zu Bruchsal als Kelmayer und Richter, sodann Albertus, im Jahre 1283 zu Bretten als Ziegelmüller, sowie Bertschi, im Jahre 1419 zu Kappel als Vogt. ...
