Famiglia catalana un cui ramo si trasferì in Sardegna nel 1332 con un Tommaso, che si segnalò nella guerra contro i Doria. In ricompensa egli fu investito del feudo di Monastir. Suo figlio Pietro, nell'elenco feudale del 1355, figura anche signore di parte della curatoria di Nuraminis. Poco dopo però Pietro morì e i feudi tornarono al fisco. La presenza dell'arma e del motto nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia Cacobati ci conferma l'avita nobiltà raggiunta dalla casata.
