I Cafferecci sono casato antichissimo e di nobilissima stirpe toscana, originario della magnifica città di Volterra, il quale ottenne la cittadinanza fiorentina nell'anno del Signore 1558. Di questa illustre e veneranda schiatta si annovera Pietro, figlio di Matteo, che nell'anno 1518 fu annoverato tra i Priori di Volterra, così come suo figlio Giovanni, il quale nel 1601 ricoprì la dignità di Magistrato de’ Proposti, e suo nipote Lodovico, che nuovamente fu ascritto tra i Priori nel 1623. Le medesime cariche furono poi rivestite da Anton Francesco Cafferecci, figlio del suddetto Lodovico, negli anni 1706 e 1708; da suo figlio Ottaviano nel 1738; e infine dal nipote Ascanio Carlo, il quale, con decreto del 19 dicembre 1757, fu solennemente annoverato tra il Patriziato di Volterra, insieme ai suoi fratelli Ottaviano Felice, Giuseppe Gaetano e Anton Francesco Cafferecci, questi ultimi due insigniti della dignità di canonici della veneranda Cattedrale Volterrana, e alle nobili sorelle Maria Virginia e Selvaggia. Dal nobile Luigi, figlio del suddetto Ascanio Carlo, unito in matrimonio con la gentildonna Lucrezia Manni, nacquero Cosimo Antonino, venuto alla luce il 18 aprile 1807, e Zanobi Filippo, nato il 24 maggio 1813, i quali furono gli ultimi rappresentanti della famiglia ad essere iscritti nel celebre Libro d’Oro della Toscana. La famiglia Cafferecci si trova altresì menzionata nell’Elenco Ufficiale della Nobiltà Italiana del 1922, ove è registrata con il titolo di Patrizio di Volterra (mf.), spettante ai discendenti di Luigi e Domenico, figli di Ascanio, di Francesco, di Anton Francesco, nonché di Ottaviano, figlio di Anton Francesco Cafferecci. ...
