Mosén Jaime Febrer cita, como uno de los primeros varones de este linaje, al noble catalán Pedro C., y dice que tomó este apellido del nombre del pueblo de Caldés, que es, sin duda, la hoy villa de Caldés de Malabella, del partido judicial de Santa Coloma de Farnés, provincia de Gerona. El mencionado Pedro C. sirvió al Rey Don Jaime I de Aragón, quien le dió el honroso título de sabio y valeroso, haciéndole Gentilhombre de su mesa. Ayudó al citado Monarca en la toma de Valencia, siendo de los primeros en escalar sus murallas, junto a la puerta de la Boatella. Así lo dice el citado autor. El apellido C. pasó a Baleares con Pedro y Juan C., que se hallaron en la conquista de Mallorca. El primero, Pedro C. (que pudiera ser el que cita Febrer, puesto que vivió en los mismo años), quedó heredado con la alquería Benugereu, en el término de Inca, y al autorizar en 17 de Abril de 1268 una traducción del libro del reparto general de las tierras, se tituló "Escribano del Infante Don Jaime, hijo y heredero del reino de Mallorca". El segundo, Juan C., tuvo, en la porción real de la villa de Inca, la alquería Maymon Abenhut. Otro Pedro C. fué Baile general de Mallorca en 1279. Jaime C. mereció que la villa de Montuiri le nombrase para que, en su nombre, prestase juramento y homenaje al Rey Don Alonso III de Aragón. Berenguer C. era caballero principalísimo de Mallorca en el año de 1300. Otro Pedro C. florecía en la misma ciudad como caballero noble y rico en 1434. ...
