Originaria di Sperlunga, nel regno di Napoli, si trapiantò verso la fine del XVIII secolo in Montalto di Castro nella persona di Vincenzo il quale da Ferdinando IV fu nominato suo Console, e dal pontefice Pio VI ebbe in enfiteusi la tenuta di Camposcala in quel territorio. I di lui figli scoprirono l'antica città di Vulci nella suddetta tenuta, la quale da Gregorio XVI con breve del 13 Nov. 1835 fu eretta in marchesato a favore dei fratelli Candelori, loro figli e successori in infinito. Della famiglia non si hanno più notizie dalla fine del XVIII secolo con Vittoria figlia unica ed erede del Marchese Alessandro, entrata in casa Moroni, alla quale portò l'eredità, il nome ed il titolo marchionale. La presenza del motto nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia ci conferma l'avita nobiltà raggiunta della casata.
