Si ha infatti notizia di un Giovanni "Codebovius vulgo Capodibue" sapiente (così anticamente eran detti i conservatori) del comune di Modena nel 1450. Diede alla patria personaggi eminenti, giureconsulti e poeti, artisti e magistrati, capitani, vescovi e prelati.
