La famiglia è iscritta genericamente nell'Elenco Ufficiale Italiano del 1922, col titolo di Nobile (maschi e femmine), in persona dei Discendenti da Pasquale, aspirante alle RR. Guardie del Corpo nel 1852. Altro ramo. Un certo Nicolò C. ebbe nel 1333, dopo un grave lutto, identificabile nello stemma dalle strisce nere, il feudo "molisena" e si trasferì dal nord Italia, probabilmente Venezia o Piacenza, in Molise. Nicolò ebbe una figlia, Franca C. che diede in sposa a Nicolò D'Arezzo. La corona sulla stemma di famiglia è di marchese, per cui è probabile che questo fosse il titolo di cui era stata investita la famiglia; un'altra ipotesi è la discendenza diretta dalla famiglia ...
