Bernadino de C., natural de Aldeanueva de Balvarroya, jurisdicción de Talavera, hijo de Esteban de C. y de Isabel Muñoz, con su mujer María de Montenegro, hija de Rodrigo García de Caramaño y de Leonor de Quiñones, nombrado Capitán de guardia por decreto de la Compañía de Indias el 28 febrero 1577, emprendió viaje al Perú el 2 junio 1578 desde el puerto de Sevilla, según consta en el Archivo General de Indias. Por otra documentación procedente del mismo archivo, sabemos que hizo gran fortuna y tuvo cuatro hijos a los cuales reconoció y dotó en su testamento, por lo que suponemos que es uno de los iniciadores de este apellido en América. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia C., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales, pues la inclusión del elemento árbol (roble, pino, ciprés) significa que la nobleza de la familia es antigua y va asociada con la benignidad y la perseverancia, virtudes supuestas de sus componentes. Los esmaltes del arma de los C. pregonan los siguientes valores: el Oro es el símbolo del Sol, origen de la vida, sus características espirituales corresponden a la fé, clemencia, templanza, caridad y justicia, por otra parte dicho esmalte señala a la familia con la felicidad, el amor, la nobleza y el esplendor, es decir, es el más noble de los metales. ...
