Nobility crown CaramelloExcellente famille de robe et d'épée, venue d'Espagne, où elle florissait dès 1340 et avait pour souche la maison de Calomarde, qui possédait le marquisat de ce nom, diocèse d'Alburraccia (Aragon). Établie à Viverols (Auvergne) avant 1512, avec Hiérosme Calemard (fils de dom Miguel), enseigne des gardes wallonnes, allié à Jeanne de Bosfranchet. Leur descendant: Jean, seigneur du Mont et Beaufranchet, marié à Madeleine de Gageron (1590), fut l'auteur de quatre branches principales dites: I°. Calemard de la Fayette (Velay); - II°. Calemard du Genestoux (Forez-Auvergne); III°. Calemard du Portail et de Recuyer, éteinte; IV°. Calemard de Montjoly, possessionnée à Craponne, remontant à Damien, seigneur du Mont, coseigneur de Félines, avocat en parlement, mort avant 1695, marié à Suzanne de Fretat, éteinte. Les Calemard de la Fayette, qui ont obtenu des lettres confirmatives de noblesse le 12 avril 1828, ont pour tige: Jean Baptiste, subdélégué en Velay de l'intendant du Languedoc. Il épousa Charlotte Artaud et fut l'auteur de: Marcellin, conseiller du Roi (1713), doyen de la cour du sénéchal du Puy, allié en 1715 à Françoise de Bernard de Javaloux; d'où Pierre, époux en 1715 de Marguerite de La Mure; d'où: Pierre-Marcellin, écuyer, coseigneur de Javaloux, etc., marié en 1779 à Anna de Sigaud de Chadrac, dame en partie de Ceyssac. La dernière descendante de cette branche: Jenny Calemard de la Fayette a épousé, le 26 juin 1911, Henri Grellet, baron du Saint-Empire, officier de cavalerie. Personnages marquants: des chanoines de N.-D. du Puy; des hommes d'armes; des baillis et capitaines-chatelains de Viverols, de Baffie et de Craponne; deux premiers consuls de cette ville (1704-1743); etc.. ...
