La familia Carbone constituye un antiquísimo linaje oriundo de Cataluña, cuyos miembros fueron hombres de probada nobleza y origen inmemorial. Su primigenio solar se asentó en tierras de Figueres, en la actual provincia de Gerona, en el castillo de Carbone, donde floreció la rama que más tarde se trasladaría a la villa de Roses, perteneciente al partido judicial de Figueres, así como aquellas que se diseminaron por los reinos de Aragón, Valencia, Mallorca, Murcia y Andalucía.
