Nel Catasto del Salvatore, sotto l'anno 1331 si legge: "Nobilis vir Joannes Carbonus Sindicus Societatis" e nei contratti dei tempi susseguenti furono sempre chiamati nobili. Ebbero casa nel Rione Monti, come risulta dalle enunciative di molti istrumenti e testamenti, in diversi Archivi di Roma. Altro ramo. Antico casato siciliano, il quale ha goduto nobiltà in Messina, Palermo e Salemi. Già nel 1283, rinveniamo un notar Filippo de Carbone, da Geraci, cavaliere ed un giudice Matteo de Carbone, anch'egli cavaliere. Ma, d'altronde, tal famiglia, in ogni epoca, sempre riuscì a distinguersi, grazie agli elevati personaggi, a cui diede i natali. Tra questi, senza nulla levar al valore degli omessi, ricordiamo: Antonino, giudice della corte straticoziale di Messina, nell'anno 1411; Andrea, con la stessa carica del precedente, nel 1554-55; Bartolomeo, senatore di Palermo, nel 1411-12; ...
