L'origine di tal cognominizzazione, al dir di illustri genealogisti, andrebbe ricercata nel toponimo "Scaro", antica località della podesteria di Moneglia, probabilmente, luogo natio di un, oggi ignoto, capostipite. Tal casato, inoltre, nel corso dei secoli, sempre, riuscì a distinguersi, grazie agli elevati personaggi, a cui diede i natali. Tra questi, ricordiamo: Rolando, eletto Proconsole del comune di Casoli del Monferrato, in data primo luglio 1384; Pietro, maestro di campo, arruolato nell'esercito di Carlo III di Savoia; cav. Paolo, dottore in "utroque jure", vivente in Torino, nel 1564; Giacomo, soldato di ventura al servizio della Serenissima, vivente nel 1569; Leandro, Regio Notaio, vivente in Torino, nel 1667; dott.
