Nobility crown CastiAntica ed assai nobile famiglia spagnola, di chiara ed avita virtù, la quale risulta divisa in due rami principali: l'uno passato in Istria, e successivamente in Veneto ed in Friuli, e l'altro passato primieramente in Piemonte, e successivamente nello Stato Pontificio. Il ramo istriano ivi giunse nel secolo decimo terzo e fu detto Castri, Castris o de Castro. Questo ramo ha goduto del titolo marchionale, in virtù del marchesato di Castignolo "sive Albucano", che dal 1212 fu suo feudo patriarchino, riconosciuto e riconfermato nel 1334 anche da Venezia. Molti prodi guerrieri uscirono da tal prosapia, fiorita nobilmente anche in Veneto. Il ramo dei Casti passato in Piemonte, risulta ivi sin dal secolo decimo sesto. Facoltosi proprietari terrieri, i Casti si distinsero particolarmente nell'esercizio delle professioni liberali e nell'arte militare. Ricordiamo: Gio. Batta, dottore in l'una e l'altra legge, fiorente in Pinerolo, nel 1583; Tommaso, dottore in l'una e l'altra legge, ...
