Nobility crown CazzuliniAntichissima e nobile stirpe ligure, originaria di Albenga, distintasi per l’importanza del suo lignaggio e la continuità del suo prestigio. A questa illustre casata è dedicata un’approfondita voce nella pregevolissima Enciclopedia storico-nobiliare italiana del marchese Vittorio Spreti. Le prime notizie araldicamente rilevanti sui Cazzulini, talvolta riportati anche come Cazzolini o Cassulini, risalgono al 6 giugno 1311, quando l’imperatore Enrico VII rinnovò solennemente l’investitura della castellania di Rivernale (o Rivernaro) ai fratelli Pietro, Cazola, Vivaldo, Bartolomeo e Bernabò, riconoscendo così ufficialmente il possesso feudale che già apparteneva ai loro avi. Il feudo, imperiale per giurisdizione, comprendeva le terre di Arnasco, Cénesi, Menosio e Bezzo, con trasmissione in linea maschile e in favore del primogenito. Nel corso dei secoli, le vicende della famiglia si intrecciano strettamente con la storia dell’Impero e dei territori liguri. Nel 1604, parte del feudo fu confiscata a Domenico, dichiarato ribelle, ma successivamente, con un processo di rivendita e riconferma da parte imperiale, tra il 1608 e il 1613, i diritti feudali furono restituiti ai suoi nipoti collaterali, Francesco e Ugo.
