Il titolo di conte è nato colla istituzione del Comitato che è antichissima e che ottenne varie conferme antiche ed una in epoca relativamente recente, nel diploma dell'imperatore Carlo IV nel novembre del 1354. Il Comitato Cenentense non differiva nella forma dagli altri Comitati, salvo per il fatto che fino al 1768 mantenne un diritto non comune agli altri sotto il dominio veneto, quello cioè di nominare il giudice civile e quello criminale della città di Ceneda; del resto, come gli altri vescovi comites, anche dei membri di questa famiglia aveva un padtrimonio feudale ed i feudi venivano investiti dal vescovo e confermati dal Senato e ciò fino al cadere della Repubblica; per cui si può facilmente dedurre che il Comitato si mantenne integro nel suo complesso storico anche dopo la soppressione della giurisdizione sulla città di Ceneda. ...
