Nobility crown CiardellaFamiglia cagliaritana, le cui notizie risalgono al secolo XVIII. Apparteneva alla borghesia agiata, un Ciardella fu consigliere di Cagliari, altri esercitavano le professioni liberali. Nella seconda metà del secolo XVIII un Michele ottenne le peschiere dello stagno di S. Gilla ed accumulò un notevole patrimonio. Egli fu console pontificio a Malta e, nel 1796, ebbe dal papa il titolo di conte. Nel 1799 ottenne in Sardegna il cavalierato ereditario e la nobiltà. Suo nipote Michele, nel secolo XIX, ottenne il riconoscimento del titolo comitale pontificio. Della famiglia non si ebbero più notizie dalla seconda metà del secolo XIX. Fu costume delle più antiche famiglie, le quali dopo la caduta del Romano Impero, "in quella inondatione de' Barbari", avendo i loro cognomi, proprio come i loro averei, smarrito e restati, quindi, solo con semplici nomi, trarre di nuovo i loro cognomi, ed il loro casato dai nomi propri paterni, e dei ...
